Much of the content on these sites is produced by Community Reporters.

Community Reporters are people who have got something to say, and enjoy saying it - real people, with real stories. If you've got access to a computer, you can be a Community Reporter. You can use words, pictures, audio or video - whatever you feel most comfortable with, it doesn't really matter. Likewise it doesn't really matter what you talk or write about (within reason! See our editorial policy) – it doesn't have to be 'news', as such, it can just be something you want people to know about.

If you're already doing something- perhaps you write a blog - you can become a Community Reporter without doing anything more than what you're doing at the moment. If you're based in Manchester, or doing things in Manchester, and have a blog or a website, why not link it up to our site via an RSS feed? You'll get thousands more people reading about the things that matter to you.

Being a Community Reporter means that you'll get access to free training and media equipment, such as video cameras and laptops, which you can then use to produce even more content, in even more imaginative ways! All we ask from you is that you produce something that we can link to on the site.

If you're new to all this stuff, but want to get involved, we can offer you training, starting with the basics of using a computer, to how to make and edit your own films.

For more background information on the programme go to People's Voice Media Community Reporters

If you want to see some of the things our Community Reporters have already produced, visit our multimedia pages or click on one of the feeds coming into our site.

If you're interested in becoming a Community Reporter, please email me at jess@mcin.net, or give me a ring on 0161 230 1430.

If you're not interested in being a Community Reporter but would like to contribute to our community news service by feeding your blog or website to this site through RSS then click on the Contribute to Feeds link above.

We have added the facility to download MP4 films and MP3 music tracks at 99 and 59 pence respectively.
I developed the film strip design seen on the home page and film downloads page. I’m also...
12.Stop Economic Growth - reform the monetary system(Tuesday 16th of December 2008 06:50:24 PM 3 weeks ago ) We live on a finite planet with finite resources, and it is obvious that there are limits to growth - limits to the rate at which the global economy can grow, and consume the world's resources. We live in an era of unparalleled economic growth, and nobody...
13.New Community Reviewer’s Blog!(Monday 15th of December 2008 01:19:39 PM 3 weeks, 1 day ago ) The Community Reviewers program is going full swing, with people reviewing left, right and centre!
Some people have mentioned that even though they’re up for producing reviews, you’ve got nowhere to put them. So I’ve created a special Community Reviewer’s blog, which all Reviewers will have access to. You can...
14.Took photos at St Ann’s Hospice Carol Concert(Saturday 13th of December 2008 08:36:11 AM 3 weeks, 4 days ago ) This evening I took photos at the annual carol concert held by St Ann’s Hospice at the Bridgewater Hall
This year’s concert was in my opinion the best ever, with superb performances by St Ann’s Hospice choir, Cheadle Hulme School choir and a range of musicians, all under the expert...

The exhibition features a selection of Jan’s superbly atmospheric grainy black and white photographs of Manchester and New York....
16.New site design made live - and then changed(Monday 08th of December 2008 08:37:17 AM 1 month ago ) On Wednesday 3 December, after months of preparation, I made the long-awaited new design live
But within a few hours of making it live, on the basis of monitoring, I decided to start making changes.
Certain aspects of the new design didn’t seem to be working as expected. And I...
17.‘Positively encouraged’ to abuse their children?(Saturday 06th of December 2008 11:04:18 PM 1 month ago )

The Daily Mail’s Amanda Patell takes the wonderful opportunity to bash poverty-stricken women in her article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1092401/AMANDA-PLATELL-Shannon-8217-s-mother-seven-babies-men.html Her half-baked musings lazily declare Karen Matthews (kidnapper & child abuser) as
‘the personification of that terrifying growing phenomenon: a feckless, amoral, workshy, benefit-dependent underclass. It doesn’t matter to the...
18.Community Reviewer’s Great Expectations - and free workshop!(Wednesday 03rd of December 2008 12:18:00 PM 1 month ago )
We’ve got a festive treat for Community Reporters old and new. We’ve teamed up with the Library Theatre to get discounted tickets to their Christmas play - Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, and if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got a professional theatre reviewer coming in to give us a free...
19.Is God Good for Women?(Tuesday 25th of November 2008 04:04:05 PM 1 month, 1 week ago )

Seems I’m always saying thank you these days. It’s nice. People are confirming my heartfelt belief that humankind is essentially good. So before I digress further, I wish to thank Robert Reed from WFM 98.2 who interviewed me last week. He took my radio appearance virginity, and he...
20.My photo of an anti-congestion charge poster used in Independent(Monday 24th of November 2008 11:10:37 PM 1 month, 1 week ago ) In today’s Independent newspaper, my photograph of an anti-congestion charge poster, taken at the Trafford Centre last year, appeared as part of an article by Paul Vellely about Manchester’s congestion charge referendum.

My photographs are used frequently in various media. The deputy picture editor at the Independent in London...
