YOUTH groups in Greater Manchester are being offered the chance to access thousands of pounds worth of funding through the Mediabox scheme. But groups need to act fast, as the deadline for 2008 applications is 19th August.
Northwest Vision and Media, which works on behalf of the TV, film, radio and digital content industries in the region, is inviting groups to attend one of two open roadshows in July, designed to explain the Mediabox scheme and give guidance on applications.
The first of these events will take place at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, Cumbria, on the morning of 8th July, with another taking place soon after at Gallery Oldham, on the afternoon of 18th July.
In 2007, Mediabox gave out in excess of £600,000 and supported 600 young people in media projects across the Northwest from diverse backgrounds. Of these, 42% were from ethnic minority backgrounds, and 78% have experienced some form of disadvantage.
Mediabox is keen to encourage a wide range of projects, and this year's regional priorities are projects in print, photography, radio, games and interactive media, graphic novels or mixed media advertising campaigns
